Ecotrail in Shipka with Geocaching

In the continuation of our works that were done before in the Ecotrail of Shipka, now it comes four points for Geocaching.

Until now, in the Ecotrail we were doing maintenance of the path, placing some arrows to help the hikers to not be lost and placing info boards about the history related to the reflorestation process took in some parts of the Balkan Mountains and local fauna and flora.

The info boards look like the ones presented below.

This is the definition of the Geocaching

took from the Wikipedia (it’s the simplest and best one):

Geocaching is an outdoor recreational activity, in which participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or mobile device and other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers, called “geocaches” or “caches”, at specific locations marked by coordinates all over the world.”

Playing Geocaching you can explore places that you normally don’t see and to know something more about those places. You can even learn more about familliar places that you see every day. It’s interesting to know that caches can be everywhere you pass.

To join Geocaching you just need to create account in the website or in the app.

After you create the account you can have the app c.geo that keeps all the data from your Geocaching account but it can offer better service to the user.

Talking now about our caches. We placed them in the places that appear in the images bellow.

In the Geocaching app/website you just need to search for Shipka and they will appear like you see in the images above.

The page you will see in every cache will be something like you see in the images bellow that show the page of one of our caches, called “Ecotrail Shipka – Spring” which is the easier cache to do (inside the town).

When you find the cache you will find a container with a logbook where you should write your username. Put it in the same place and continue with your life.

And that’s it!

Enjoy your finds and your life! 💚
